Hey guys!
I am pleased to present my brand new website for Phioro has launched!
With the help of my brilliantly talented brother and months of hard work on his part, we have come up with something we can both be extremely proud of. I am absolutely ecstatic about the outcome and will be adding new images and new blogs to the site as soon as they arise.
Be sure to keep up-to-date with all my new movements, ideas, planned collections, exhibitions, competitions etc by clicking on the Current Projects page. The diary shows when and where I have things planned and selecting this will show more information about the respective dates.
The portfolio pages include my current work in jewellery and silversmithing along with prices and the stories behind the pieces. This is currently be updated as we speak to include the whole 'Mother's Love' collection in both the jewellery and silversmithing sections.
I do hope you enjoy browsing through the little treasures I have on offer there and if there is an idea that springs to your mind from what you see don't be afraid to contact me about commissions. I regularly work on pieces that people have designed with me to create the perfect gift.

Having recently graduated from a jewellery and silversmithing degree I am currently in the process of expanding my collection and starting up my business. My work is always very concept driven and is heavily influenced by the female form. Sensual, tactile and organic, the pieces ask you to touch them, experiencing their soft exterior. A contradiction to what you would usually assume metal would feel like I know - but have a look at my images and come visit my exhitions if you can and see them for yourself!
My business name is Phioro - a word split into two, Phi - the golden number - Leonardo DaVinci’s ratio of perfection and Oro - Italian for Gold. The work I create represents the perfection we achieve in life by just being ourselves. Accepting our good bits with our bad bits and celebrating the beauty of human form.
My work is focussed on satisfying the senses, the initial appeal of the sight of the pieces draws one in to want to hold and touch them. As they are held their function becomes apparent and the act of drinking adds the sense of taste to the list.
I have created a series of sake cups influenced by the beauty of the female form. The soft, gentle curves draw the eye into the little details in each cup, a belly button, a nipple, the curve of a spine. I have used the features to create bases or pouring elements in my pieces, adding to their functionality as well as their aesthetic. I see this set as a collectable group of items that juxtapose one another, each piece drawing one’s attention to the beauty of elements we so often miss on our own bodies. Sake cups are seen as sentimental objects to the owner, I have incorporated this concept into my wearable pieces, allowing the cup and ladle to travel with the person as a keepsake.
The collection is based on a family; the jug is inspired by the curve of a pregnant woman’s body, the mother’s role as the provider is particularly appropriate to this concept. Each piece has its own individual personality, size and form, they gather together like a huddle of little children.
Well, after the very happy realisation that my stats are starting to increase quite a bit at http://clarepardoephioro.wordpress.com and then seeing that this is because loads of ppl are researching pregnant ladies - I came to the conclusion that this must be a target audience! Either you are all as inspired by the pregnant form as I am, or some of you/your parteners are expecting… if so - congratulations are in order! And what better to celebrate a new baby on the way than a deserved present which is inspired by their form, beauty and sexiness.
beautiful pregnant woman
I am actually surrounded by pregnant women and new mothers in my life at the moment - my cousin is 4 weeks from her due date and I have several friends who have just had gorgeous new little ones come into this world - all of whom are first time mothers. Seeing the excitement and the build up around this beautiful beginning of a new era in their lives, I have realised how immeasurably precious it is. And how unbelievably appropriate my collection is to any expectant mother as a keepsake and memento of a first born, or even a second or third! After all they are all just as special, aren’t they!?
Pregnant-form inspired tableware
Currently the Sensual Silver collection holds a series of cups and a jug, along with 3 ladles. All inspired by the female, curved form. The jug and 2 cups are specifically inspired by the pregnant belly, with little belly buttons incorporated into the curved forms, and I have recently created a series of rings with belly button-like elements and pearls sat inside them. (The pearl represents the innocence and purity of the baby).
Baby-Button Ring
I am now working to expand on this with a series of more baby oriented objects - perhaps a rattle, or a money box.. If anyone has any suggestions of what they think they’d like from a congratulations present or a christening present please let me know, because at the moment I think these kind of objects that are available are decidedly lacking in style and sensitivity. I plan to change this and create beautiful, subtle and sensitive pieces to celebrate your new baby’s arrival. I would also like to offer a commissions service where you can give me either a picture of your pregnant belly or your new born baby respectively to use as inspiration for a completely personal object to you and your family only.
Please feel free to add comments and suggestions - I welcome your feedback
